New Pallets
We manufacture new pallets at both locations to meet a wide range of customer needs. The Pallet Factory located in Shady Dale features integrated sawmilling, pallet design, and automated nailing machines for efficient, high‑volume production. Atlanta Pallets & Services located in Decatur specializes in hand‑built pallets, offering flexibility for custom sizes and specialty requirements. Manufacturing in‑house at both sites allows us to maintain strong control over quality, consistency, and material availability.
Each pallet is engineered to customer specifications using our CAD‑CAM Pallet Design System, which accounts for load requirements, handling conditions, and product dimensions. Pallets are assembled using computerized and automated nailing equipment, ensuring uniform construction and repeatable performance.
We select lumber based on application needs. Our most commonly used materials include hardwoods such as oak and poplar and softwoods such as Southern Yellow Pine. When required, we also offer kiln‑dried pine lumber for applications where reduced moisture content is important. For pallets produced from green lumber, an optional mold‑retardant dip treatment is available to help reduce surface mold development. For export shipments, we provide ISPM‑15 compliant heat treatment to meet international shipping requirements.

Recycled Pallets
Recycled GMA pallets are manufactured to Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) specifications and measure 48" L × 40" W. While recycled pallets generally maintain load capacities similar to new pallets, they may exhibit signs of prior use, such as weathering or cosmetic wear.
Our standard recycled GMA pallets are 4‑way entry pallets and are graded based on condition and repair level, as outlined below.
#1 Recycled Pallets
#1 recycled pallets are available in two grades: A and Triple A (AAA). These pallets may have had deck boards replaced, but do not require stringer repairs.
AAA #1 Pallets
- Hardwood Construction
- 4‑way entry
- 6" lead boards on both ends (top and bottom)
- Overall dimensions: 48" × 40"
- Seven evenly spaced top deck boards and five bottom deck boards
- Designed for customers requiring a higher‑grade recycled pallet
A #1 Pallets
- 4‑way entry
- Predominantly constructed with 4" deck boards
- Board sizes may vary
- Does not include 6" lead boards
#2 Recycled Pallets
#2 pallets consist of 4" or 6" deck boards and may have undergone more extensive repairs. These pallets may have had cracked stringers, which are repaired using wood blocks installed on the inside edge of the stringer to reinforce the compromised area.
- No more than two repair blocks are used per pallet
- Metal plates are never used in repairs
* The difference between an A #1 pallet and a #2 pallet may not be immediately noticeable from a distance but can be seen when inspecting the open stringer end.
Remanufactured Pallets
Remanufactured pallets are built using lumber reclaimed from scrapped pallets, allowing usable material to be recovered and returned to service rather than sent to disposal. Depending on customer requirements, these pallets may be constructed entirely from reclaimed lumber or from a combination of new and reclaimed materials.
By reusing lumber recovered through our pallet recycling operations, remanufactured pallets support material conservation and waste reduction while maintaining performance and reliability. This approach extends the usable life of wood products and contributes to more efficient use of natural resources.
Remanufactured pallets can be produced in custom sizes and configurations, making them a practical and cost‑effective alternative when standard GMA pallets do not meet specific load, size, or application requirements. For many customers, remanufactured pallets offer a balance of performance, value, and environmental responsibility.
Custom Crates
Custom wood crates are hand‑built at our Decatur, Georgia, facility to customer specifications. Our team designs and builds crates for domestic and export use, with construction methods and materials selected based on load requirements, handling conditions, and product dimensions. ISPM‑15 heat treatment is available for export shipments.
